To make Semovita at home, you first of all, process both ingredients separately and then combine them.

Items needed.

White dry maize or corn.

Dry white cassava flour.


Preparing Natural SEMOVITA for human consumption

Put Dry white maize or corn in a basin or any convenient sack. Take to commercial engine (grinders).

Buy cassava and dry white maize or corn. Put in a basin or any convenient sack,  take to commercial engine (grinders).  They will first of remove the shaft  from the corn.

After removing the shaft from the corn, they will grint it together with the cassava. When u get to the house, filter the corn and cassava flour. and you good to go.

2kg of maize to 1kg of dry cassava.

Tips

The shaft filtered out from the two mix together can be used to feed Goat,birds,Turkey, etc DONT throw it away.

Method Two of Making Semovita at Home

Step 1: Processing Cassava

Peel the cassava roots and cut them into smaller pieces for easy processing.

Soak in water to ferment. Remove after three days and sundry.  This process helps remove excess starch.


Step 2: Drying Cassava

Dry the cassava until it becomes crisp and brittle. This process may take several days or longer, depending on the drying method and the thickness of the cassava layer. 


Step 3: Grinding Guinea Corn

Clean the corn grains to remove any debris or impurities.

Grind the corn grains into a fine powder using a blender or a grain mill. Ensure that the powder is finely ground for a smoother texture.


Step 4: Combining Cassava and Corn

Once the cassava gratings are completely dried and the Guinea corn is ground into a fine powder, combine them together in a bowl.

Mix the dried cassava and the corn powder thoroughly until they are well-blended.


Step 5: Grinding and Sieving (optional)

If you desire a finer texture for your semovita flour, you can further grind the combined mixture using a blender or a grain mill.

Pass the ground mixture through a fine-mesh sieve or use a cheesecloth to remove any large shaft.

Store properly.
